Managing Director EMEA - AdTech, Retail Media:

Salary package competitive within market rates (circa £300-350K OTE for the right candidates)

I'm exclusively working on a very critical and exciting role at a leading global AdTech business with a very strong ecommerce and retail footprint.

The context:

  • The business is going from strength to strength at the moment, having developed a number of industry leading products across their varied & versatile tech-stack which enable them to be major players within the AdTech ecosystem for some time. They have made some very strong strategic purchases over the years including a recent very big acquisition.

  • This role is a newly created EMEA wide leadership role to lead what is one of their most profitable and high growth products within their business: The Retail Media product. This product helps online retailer partners effectively monetise their websites, while driving great results for brands who wish to advertise on their sites alongside relevant products.

  • This Retail Media product sits in firmly in the ever growing sector of Ecommerce and is forecast to be a space worth $32 billion globally by revenue by 2024 (& this is not incl. Amazon and Chinese e-comms revenue) which is rather staggering, with plenty of potential wins to be had and strong overall revenue growth potential.

  • Their product is already unequivocally the global leader in the space, particularly from a product/tech efficacy viewpoint, which is why they're so excited by it's potential internally and won't settle for purely being the best now, rather they want to build on that foundation and consolidate their dominance in the sector, instigated by their product team's expert knowledge and the trust brands have in their solution.

The Role:

This role has been created to ensure they build on what they have already created and scale across EMEA. Retail Media is growing across EMEA and there's a real appetite from EMEA businesses to get involved. The growth potentially frankly is quite scary but exciting in equal measure! You'll be leading this team and business unit for the entire EMEA territories, & will be a strategic growth leader, analysing the team & best understanding how to extract more from the existing team while identifying paths for growth

In the last year alone, the product has 3x in size (within the business) and that could grow another 30% in 2022. Essentially, you can expect high double-digit growth in revenue in 2022. You'll have two direct reports (VP of Supply/VP Demand), who subsequently have a team of directors and reports in a matrix environment consisting of 170 employees in total in this business unit. Overall they have over 2600 employees globally.

What's required in the role?

Firstly, the goal is to deliver top line revenue. However overall, you'll need to combine all of the following to be successful:

  • You must be someone who understands a transformation and change environment.

  • You need to be a strategic growth leader, this is more imp than solely being able to execute strategic deals (although knowledge of this is imp.)

  • You must be able to look at/analyse their current retail media business and understand how best to grow it and scale it strategically. Taking it to the next level

  • They need someone who is retailer centric & brand centric

  • Relationships wise you must be highly connected across brand and retailers... retailers arguably will be the more important relationships!

  • You must have high level experience of the pressure of managing top line revenue. This is a Big growth portfolio!

There are lots of sales leaders out there, but there are few that will fit this role due to the specialised nature of the role. Ideally Retail Media is a complete must have.

So in short what are key deliverables?

  • Understanding the team and strengthening revenue out of the gate.

  • Helping the team ramp on this product and integrate with the overall cross-product offering, while helping contribute to the overall business's profile & growth

  • You must be someone who is really accountable and accepts the responsibility for the top line revenue and growth of this business unit.
